2021 Pinellas Property Tax Bills Are Coming

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Don’t let it scare you! Pinellas County property tax bills are being mailed on Friday, October 29. Property owners who opted out of receiving a traditional paper bill will receive their tax bill via email on November 1. Property tax payments will be accepted online at pinellastaxcollector.gov/property-tax or in a tax collector office beginning November 1.

November is one of the busiest months at the tax collector’s office, both in person and on the phone, due to property tax season. Overall, there are 495,181 accounts, totaling nearly $2 billion on the 2021 tax roll.

Tax Collector Charles W. Thomas strongly encourages customers to pay online this year. Customers can also avoid extra fees by selecting the eCheck payment option.

“The fastest and easiest way to pay this year is through our online payment portal,” said Tax Collector Charles W. Thomas. “Our online services are always available, and we even have a new Chatbot, Owen, to assist customers virtually 24/7. We understand everyone’s time is valuable and want to make this process as convenient for our citizens as possible.”

Pinellas County Tax Collector offices currently require an appointment for all services. However, customers only making tax payments will be accepted on a walk-in basis. Property owners should let the security guard(s) know they are visiting for property tax payment purposes only to ensure they are assisted accordingly.

Starting Monday, November 1, property tax bills can be viewed online at pinellastaxcollector.gov/property-tax and are searchable by owner name, address, and account or parcel number.

When it comes to property taxes – paying early saves you money. Bills paid in November receive a 4% discount. The discount drops to 3% in December, 2% in January, and 1% in February. There is no discount for March payments. Property taxes must be paid in full by April 1, 2022, to avoid late fees.

The Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office does not set property tax rates and does not decide how much homeowners are billed. Rather, the office is responsible for collecting property taxes and distributing the correct portions to all 56 local taxing authorities, including the School Board, Board of County Commissioners, cities, libraries, and more. Taxing authorities use these tax dollars to fund their budgets to provide vital services and programs.
