PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – No need to be spooked – 2023 property tax bills are on their way from the Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office. Papers bills will be mailed on Tuesday, October 31, while electronic bills will be emailed to those who opted into that method on November 1.

Pinellas County property owners can begin making their tax payments on November 1st online by visiting pinellastaxcollector.gov or at any Pinellas tax collector office. As tax season is the busiest time of year for tax collector offices, customers are strongly encouraged to save time and pay online, which is not only safe and easy, but convenient too as it allows customers to make payments at any time, from anywhere. Online payments made by credit or debit card will incur an additional fee of 2.95% with a $2.50 minimum per the vendor, however, customers can choose to use the free eCheck payment option to avoid any extra fees.

Customers who pay in November receive a 4% discount. The discount drops to 3% for December payments, 2% for payments made in January, and 1% for February. As of April 2024, unpaid 2023 property taxes are considered delinquent.

“Although we offer many services, tax collection is our main function. I’m proud of how hard our Tax Administration team works to ensure the property tax bills are error-free and sent out in a timely manner,” said Pinellas County Tax Collector, Charles W. Thomas. “The money collected through property taxes goes towards funding vital service provided by both the county and cities within Pinellas.”

For the 2023 tax roll, there are 427,446 accounts, totaling more than $2.4 billion. The Tax Collector does not assess nor determine property tax rates. Customers with questions or issues about their property tax amounts should reach out to the Property Appraiser’s Office. Tax collector offices are responsible for collecting and distributing property taxes to all 56 local taxing authorities, including the School Board, Board of County Commissioners, cities, libraries, and more. Taxing authorities then use these tax dollars to fund their budgets to provide vital services and programs right here in Pinellas.
