PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Tax collector offices across the county are helping local students get ready for back-to-school by partnering with local non-profit, Angels Against Abuse. Employees and citizens are invited to participate by donating much-needed supplies from a curated wish list.

Angels Against Abuse provides care and assistance to children and families in the foster care system in Pinellas County. They go beyond the scope of basic services covered by the system, including trauma reduction, creating traditional childhood experiences, and developing programs to help break the cycle of abuse. Their Angel Visitation Center in Largo serves as a care center and neutral meeting place for children and families, where, along with a supportive and safe environment, they can receive much-needed supplies. In July, the tax collector’s offices are collecting donations to stock the Angel Center with everything they need for the back-to-school season.

Each year, the tax collector team nominates local non-profits for their annual fundraising initiative. For 2025, Angels Against Abuse was nominated and won the employee vote. The team has been raising funds through internal initiatives, such as bake sales and the Thread of Hope program, where employees can break dress code and participate in a themed day for a donation. This Back-to-School supply drive will allow the community to get involved alongside the tax collector team.

“Supporting our community begins with investing in our future—and that means ensuring every student has the tools they need to thrive,” Tax Collector Adam Ross said. “Through our internal fundraising efforts and the back-to-school donation drive,  we’re proud to stand behind Angels Against Abuse, helping to create a foundation for success early on.”
