PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – This April, recognized nationally as National Donate Life Month, Pinellas County Tax Collector employees are raising awareness and funds for a vital cause—lifesaving organ, eye, and tissue donation—by partnering with Donate Life Florida.
This year’s campaign, called “Leave a Legacy,” encourages residents to make a lasting impact by signing up as organ donors and donating money to the cause.
Throughout the month, tax collector employees will support the cause by wearing themed Donate Life t-shirts on Wednesdays and collecting donations. The initiative aims to spark meaningful conversations and increase donor registrations during routine driver license and motor vehicle transactions.
“Our organization has proudly partnered with Donate Life Florida for many years, and we are honored to support such a meaningful and lifesaving mission,” said Pinellas County Tax Collector Adam Ross. “The ‘Leave a Legacy’ theme is a powerful reminder that each of us has the ability to make a difference that extends far beyond our lifetime.”
According to Donate Life, over 100,000 people in the United States are currently waiting for lifesaving organ transplants, with thousands of those individuals living in Florida. One donor can save up to eight lives and improve dozens more through tissue and cornea donations. In Florida, most donor registrations still happen during driver license and ID card transactions—showing how important tax collector offices are in growing the donor registry.
