PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – This February, Pinellas County Tax Collector offices are proudly recognizing American Heart Month in partnership with the Florida Heart Research Foundation, promoting heart-health education and awareness.

Throughout the month, tax collector team members will support the campaign by collecting customer donations, participating in National Wear Red Day, and highlighting the “Stop Heart Disease” specialty license plate at countywide office locations.

Visitors to local tax collector offices in February will also have the chance to buy various Florida Heart Research Foundation merchandise, including car shades, sunglasses, backpacks, and more. All proceeds from merchandise sales directly support the foundation’s education and awareness programs.

Customers will also be invited to switch their car tag to the “Stop Heart Disease” specialty license plate, which provides ongoing funding to the foundation through renewal fees. These funds support vital cardiovascular research, education initiatives, and prevention grant programs.

“American Heart Month is an important opportunity to shine a light on heart disease and its impact,” said Pinellas County Tax Collector Adam Ross. “Our offices are proud to support the Florida Heart Research Foundation and help raise awareness through this annual campaign.”

Founded in 1944, the Florida Heart Research Foundation is a recognized leader in cardiovascular research and education. The organization works to raise awareness about heart disease, including its causes, prevention methods, and treatment options, while also supporting public education campaigns like American Heart Month.

Each year, the Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office partners with six nonprofits from Pinellas or Florida, chosen through an application process that evaluates mission compatibility and local impact. The Florida Heart Research Foundation will be the first organization they support in 2026.
