PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – On Thursday, January 23, Adam Ross, Pinellas County Tax Collector, hosted the 10th annual Kids Tag Art Pinellas Awards Ceremony at Largo High School with members of his team and the Pinellas County Schools Visual Arts Department.

With over 500 in attendance, local community leaders and program sponsors joined the Kids Tag Art team to celebrate

more than 150 fifth graders, including the top student and teacher artists of the year.

Out of over 2,400 unique entries, these students were selected to receive an “Award of Excellence” by a panel of retired art teachers. Each award of excellence winner received a certificate and a medal to mark their accomplishments.

Program sponsors were also invited to select student winners and the 14 Sponsor Choice Award winners received a framed copy of their tag design and various special prizes donated by local businesses. The program’s annual teacher art social media contest winners were also announced and celebrated at the ceremony.

“With Kids Tag Art our organization has a unique opportunity to celebrate and promote creativity in Pinellas’ art students,” Tax Collector Adam Ross said. “My team loves this program and the chance to give back to our community – plus it’s fun to see all the amazing student art each year!”

Ross hand-picked the highest honor of the evening, the Tax Collector Choice Award winner. This year, the award went to Olivia Hilander from Curlew Creek Elementary. Olivia was awarded a framed copy of her design and additional prizes.

“I was blown away by each student’s talent and creativity. It was very difficult to pick a winner,” Ross explained. “Ultimately, I chose Olivia’s design because, not only is it very well done, but the design and bold colors really captured the beauty of our county and state.”

Kids Tag Art Pinellas is a partnership between the Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office, Pinellas County schools, and generous community sponsors. Funds are raised for local elementary school art classrooms through donations and by selling artwork – unique, front-facing license plates – designed by Pinellas County fifth graders and teachers. These plates are available online at kidstagartpinellas.org with 100% of the proceeds returning to the participating art classrooms to purchase various supplies, enriching the art education experience.

Since its inception ten years ago, Kids Tag Art Pinellas has raised more than $350,000 for local elementary art classrooms and programs. These funds are used to buy much needed supplies for Pinellas art classrooms like markers, paper, paints, and other art tools. The winning tags from each year are displayed at tax collector offices throughout the county.

The special, 10th Anniversary of  Kids Tag Art Pinellas was made possible through generous community sponsors including Suncoast Credit Union, The Tampa Bay Rays, Tag Agency of Pinellas, Direct Mail Systems, Florida Heart Research Foundation, DPrint, MicroLumen, City of Largo, Office & Flooring Worx, Lauren’s Kids, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, PostcardMania, Grant Street Group, and more.
