PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Tax collector offices across Pinellas County team up with the Florida non-profit Lauren’s Kids to raise funds and spread awareness for National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Customers visiting tax collector offices in April can support the cause by switching to the Lauren’s Kids specialty license plate or making a monetary donation. Those who donate will receive a special thank-you gift from Lauren’s Kids. Any customer who switches to the specialty license plate in April can enter a drawing for a $25 Visa or American Express gift card presented by Lauren’s Kids.
“This is a great organization with a truly important cause – protecting the children in our community,” Tax Collector Adam Ross said. “Our team is proud to partner with Lauren’s Kids this April and do our part to help end child abuse.”
The facts speak for themselves and for how important this cause is—before turning 18, 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will be sexually abused in the United States. There are over 42 million childhood sexual abuse survivors in the U.S. today, and 95% of sexual abuse is preventable through education.
Lauren’s Kids was founded by Lauren Book in 2007. Book is a former teacher, best-selling author, former State Senator, and childhood sexual abuse survivor. Book’s own traumatic experiences fueled her mission to prevent childhood sexual abuse and help other survivors to heal.
Donations to Lauren’s Kids will remain local, with funds allocated toward education and awareness programs in Pinellas County, including training and abuse prevention curricula for local teachers. Find more information about Lauren’s Kids at laurenskids.org.
Each year, the tax collector’s office supports six Florida non-profits, chosen from applications submitted based on the organization’s mission and local impact. Lauren’s Kids is the third non-profit they are supporting for 2025. Follow tax collector updates and more on Facebook, X, and Instagram - @PinellasTC.
