Throughout the month of July, tax collector customers can purchase various vision-related items or provide a monetary donation to help support Preserve Vision. Motorcycle owners will also be given the opportunity to switch to the “Bikers Care” motorcycle specialty plate. 40% of the proceeds from the stylish red, white, and blue plate go toward causes that support Floridians with vision-related disabilities.

“Healthy vision is not just a vital cause to support in our community, it is also an important aspect of our offices’ daily duties,” said Tax Collector, Charles W. Thomas. “We conduct vision exams for driver license customers every day, so it makes sense to partner with this cause to keep our citizens healthy and safe on the roads.”

It is Preserve Vision Florida’s mission to promote healthy vision through education, service, advocacy, and research. They also assist those who cannot afford eye care services by partnering with physicians and optical retailers to provide free vision screenings. Approximately 292,735 Floridians have some type of vision impairment.

Preserve Vision Florida is the fourth local nonprofit to be promoted by the tax collector’s office for 2024. For more information about Preserve Vision Florida, visit pvfla.org. For details about the tax collector’s office and services offered, visit pinellastaxcollector.gov.
