Suncoast Animal League (SAL) is a non-profit, no-kill, no-time-limit animal welfare agency based in Palm Harbor. Since 2006, SAL has rescued and adopted over 200,000 cats and dogs and helped thousands of wildlife around Pinellas. SAL was chosen as the annual charity for the tax collector’s office for 2024, and they support the organization throughout the year with various internal and external fundraising efforts.
One such effort, “Thread of Hope” was created by the tax collector team in 2022. Employees can make a monetary donation to break dress code in a fun themed clothing day – with all proceeds going to the annual charity. Last year’s theme days included: Disney Day, Sports Day, Tropical Shirt Day, and more.
“I am honored to lead a team that finds creative and impactful ways to give back to our community,” Tax Collector Adam Ross said, “Suncoast Animal League has done so much good in Pinellas. The PCTC team is proud to present them with this donation, and my wife and I even adopted a puppy from the event at the St. Pete office.”

The tax collector offices also hosted two pet supply drives in 2024 where employees and customers were invited to donate much-needed items for the no-kill shelter. As a result, two sizable collections were delivered to Suncoast Animal League’s shelter in Palm Harbor.
Additionally, multiple food truck events were hosted by the tax collector offices throughout 2024. Meltdown, Glazed and Confused, and Bellies food trucks served up delicious lunches and generously donated 10% of their profits to Suncoast Animal League. The January 17th Food Truck Friday at the tax collector’s office in St. Petersburg wrapped up a year of support for Suncoast Animal League with a bustling lunch crowd, extremely well-behaved animal ambassadors, and Tax Collector Adam Ross presenting the total donations from the tax collector employees.
The tax collector team voted to support Angels Against Abuse throughout 2025. Visit pinellastaxcollector.gov/community-involvement for more info about that fundraising campaign as well as the other charitable organizations they support.
